Parthenon celebrates first factual production for Austrian public broadcaster, ORF
Parthenon Entertainment is engaged in its first factual production for Austrian national public service broadcaster, ORF: A one hour special, entitled Limits of Light.
Limits of Light (1 x 60’ HD) is a scientific extravaganza, co-produced with leading proco AV-Dokumenta in Vienna, which will explore the world of colour, both seen and unseen, to show how our colour vision works and how it compares to other animals. The programme will also demonstrate how man has been able to discover and harness the power of electromagnetic radiation to enable us to transmit and receive radio waves used for a variety of devices, and see the invisible, with X-rays. It will also show how Mother Nature equips snakes to sense infra-red radiation to hunt their prey and insects and birds that can see into ultraviolet.
The programme was commissioned by Andrew Solomon, head of Universum, the natural history and science unit of Austrian pubcaster, ORF, who said about the production:
“This illuminating documentary bears all the hallmarks of quality factual programming that ORF is renowned for. We have a long established relationship with Parthenon as a distributor of content and its producer credits are highly praised in the factual genre.”
Commenting on the commission, Danny Tipping, Director of Production at Parthenon Entertainment, said:
“It’s great to be working with AV-Dokumenta and ORF on this production. We hope this is the start of a new era of factual production for Parthenon in conjunction with some of the industry’s leading international broadcasters.”
Parthenon Entertainment has also boosted its Bristol production office, which will be working primarily on this commission.
Renowned science and natural history filmmakers, Victoria Coules and Steve Nicholls, formerly at Burning Gold Productions, have joined Parthenon as Development Executive, Science and Nature and Executive Producer respectively.
In addition, Alison Bradburn has been promoted to Head of Production for the Bristol office.
